Demographic Transition

The shift from high birth and death rates to low birth and death rates as a society develops economically. This transition typically occurs in stages: first mortality declines due to improved healthcare and sanitation, then fertility declines as urbanization and education increase. Most developed nations have completed this transition, while many developing nations are in the midst of it.
